April 2026: Happy EASTER!

EASTER (Pascha) – a special time that embodies renewal and reflection, marking a moment where history and faith converge. This reminds us that persistence through adversity can yield transformation, inviting both personal growth and communal hope. In its simplicity, Easter re-affirms the enduring power of life, forgiveness and the human capacity to embrace new beginnings.
Every  year, Easter is teaching us that life never ends & love never dies!
Also, at this time, early greetings to all my Romanian & Greek friends who will celebrate this holiday next week.
💮 HAPPY EASTER! 💮 PAŞTE FERICIT! 💮 FROHE OSTERN! 💮 JOYEUSES PÂQUES! 💮 BUONA PASQUA! 💮

March 20, 2026: SPRING Equinox & World Happiness Day

The Spring Equinox marks a moment of poised balance and renewal, urging us to awaken potential and embrace new beginnings with clarity and purpose.
As the day and night stand equal, the Equinox exemplifies nature’s quiet equilibrium, and a great reminder that growth and transformation occur within cycles of balance. In this interval, we are invited to shed the inertia accumulated over the winter, and begin nurturing our projects and dreams like seeds awaiting the sun.
May we each be able to allow this season to inspire deliberate action, such as: attending to inner life with care, cultivating patience and permitting new opportunities to unfold naturally. Just as the earth awakens in gradual, measured rhythms, our own progress thrives when aligned with natural timing. The Equinox teaches us that transformation is neither sudden nor forced, but rather it is a steady development, guided by attention, intention and sincerity extended to the changing light.
“Spring awakens the soul, like a song that stirs the heart, reminding us that we are alive.”
Short scientific background on SPRING EQUINOX:
“Spring Equinox” is an astronomical event, nearly noticed by everyone, when the day and night are almost of an equal length, marking the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere; this is commonly regarded as the instant of time when the plane (extended indefinitely in all directions) of Earth's equator passes through the center of the Sun. This is one of the four seasonal turning points, when the strength of the old goes into the new as the power of life blossoms with grace while Nature springs again to LIFE.

On March 20, 2026, the entire world is also observing the International Day of Happiness,
 and this year’s theme is:
Keep Calm, Stay Wise, Be Kind.
On this International Happiness Day, it is vital to recognize that happiness is not merely an ephemeral emotion, but rather a measurable condition of well-being that permeates individual and societal functioning. Empirical studies in psychology and neuroscience consistently demonstrate that positivity correlates with enhanced cognitive performance, resilience and social cohesion. Pursuing happiness, therefore, is not an indulgence ... it is a rational investment in the quality of our lives and the communities we inhabit. As we cultivate gratitude, meaningful connections and purposeful engagement, we generate conditions that sustain durable contentment. Let this day serve as a reminder that happiness thrives where awareness and intention intersect: when we actively choose practices that strengthen empathy, foster cooperation and promote mental and physical health. By treating the pursuit of happiness as both an ethical and pragmatic endeavor, we affirm that personal fulfillment and societal well-being are inextricably linked.
"True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done, the zest of creating things new." (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry)

Alice’s Book Club – WINTER session of 2026

Before the current winter is completely over in our part of the world, on Thursday (March 19’26) I organized my first book club of the year (the winter session of 2026)together with my group selecting the book we will discuss next, followed by an effective brainstorming regarding other educational subjects, which we might like to touch on during our future gatherings. Lovely company, uplifting energy and a wealth of fantastic ideas made this meeting truly awesome….stay close to us to learn more about our reading “adventures”, as well as the new concepts I will implement in a timely fashion.

On the other hand, while at this page, I would like to quickly refresh few valuable points scholars usually emphasize in their papers about the benefits of reading
(in essence, why it helps to read at least a bit every day):
- Reading books allow readers to gain better insights into human nature (you could gain interesting and helpful knowledge that never can be taken away from you)
- Readers become more sensitive to the emotions of other people, quality which seems to disappear in today’s world
- Good literature of any language improve and expand the comprehension skills; also, at the same time, by considering all the aspects involved, you could become even more versed with your critical and analytical thinking (the more skills you have, the better equipped you are to face the challenges that sometimes life might present)Additionally, a well written novel could 'transport' you to different places, while an engaging article might distract or keep you in the present moment allowing relaxation to occur.
- A book always stimulates the brain (amazingly enough, through reading new brain pathways are created and the existing ones become even stronger, facts that assist with the short-term memory recalls as well as mood stabilization).

As usual, my most sincere appreciation to those who honored my invitation! Until we meet again, my best regards to all for a beautiful spring to come!

Socializing: 2026 – INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’s Day

On Tuesday (March 8, 2026) I organized for ALICE & Friends Circle™ the annual reunion, celebrating the International Women’s Day.

At this gathering, before we did proceed with the prepared agenda, we held a moment of silence to honor the memory of our dear friend,
Ms. Marcela Trandafir, who recently transitioned. Ms. Trandafir was part of our Circle, a wonderful human being – an inspiring
model of grace, discretion, wisdom and devotion. Generally speaking, such moments allow people to be reflective and revisit dear memories, and definitively... such moments instantly make you feel more in tune with those around you, allowing for a deeper community connection.
Without any doubt, she will be deeply missed by many!

Then our evening nicely continued with the chosen theme of the day…this time, the program was featuring a very special keynote speaker – Ms. Celestina Popa (Celestina Popa Gymnastics), who is a distinguished Romanian artistic gymnast, World and Olympic medalist. Ms. Popa generously shared with the group a number of significant concepts about sports, discipline, resilience, endurance, creativity, non-stop learning and adaptability.
Also, my distinguished guest was Hon. Ştefana Rotaru, Deputy Consul General and Minister Plenipotentiary of Romania in Canada, who nicely congratulated this initiative, and expressed her appreciation for the ongoing commitment of our Circle to promote the Romanian values, arts and culture.
The event, held via modern technology, allowed the attendees to engage with the speaker and the guest of honor in a very pleasant manner.
For this occasion, 27 persons confirmed attendance, plus 5 were pending, but after all we ended up being only 17 people.

Our extensive group conversations were heart-felt and to the point, highlighting the importance of recognizing the ongoing contributions of women in shaping society, while reinforcing the message that women’s voices and stories are central to a more sustained cultural and social development…only collective action could drive to really meaningful changes in the world. The gathering was concluded on a warm note, wishing each-other only the best for the spring that’s yet to come!
Until next time, my warmest regards dear ladies, and once again: Happy International Women’s Day!

For your edification, here are some facts about my key note speaker for this evening – Ms. Celestina Popa:
Celestina received the "Master of Sports" Decoration, and in 2013 she became an honorary citizen of the Romanian city, Ploiești.
Here are a few video clips featuring Celestina Popa at Worlds Gymnastics Championships & Olympics:
Ø  Celestina Popa: 1987 – World Rotterdam; team optional for women (her floor exercise)
Ø  Celestina Popa: 1988 – Seoul Olympics (her floor performance)
Ø  Celestina Popa: 1988 – Seoul Olympics (her beam performance)
Ø  Celestina Popa: 1988 – Seoul Olympics (her unequal parallel bars performance)
Ø  Celestina Popa: 1988 – Seoul Olympics (her gymnastic vaulting performance)
Personalities: since the focus of this meeting was International Women’s Day, here I’m glad to share with you some famous women who changed the world.
 Few prominent ROMANIAN WOMEN:

Simone de Beauvoir (1908 – 1986): was a French existentialist philosopher, writer, social theorist, and feminist activist. Though she did not consider herself a philosopher, nor was she considered one at the time of her death, she had a significant influence on both feminist existentialism and feminist theory.

March 8, 2026: Happy INTERNATIONAL WOMEN's Day!

Today, on International Women’s Day (March 8, 2026), we honor not only the achievements of women worldwide but also their enduring strength, resilience and vision. Women have shaped the course of history through remarkable leadership, creativity and intellectual prowess, often in the face of systemic barriers.
Yet the work for equality remains unfinished – gender bias, underrepresentation and inequitable opportunities persist in every sphere of society.
This day is a call to recognize that women’s rights are human rights and that true progress depends on inclusive participation at every level.
Let us commit to fostering environments where girls and women can pursue education, leadership and innovation without constraint. By dismantling obstacles, amplifying voices and ensuring equitable access, we empower not only individuals but entire communities. In academia, business, politics and the arts, women demonstrate that excellence knows no gender, and every success is a reminder of what is possible when talent is nurtured and equity prioritized. On this day, it is important to be reaffirmed the dedication to a world where the potential of women is fully realized, where voices are heard, and where each action contributes to a more just, informed, and compassionate society. Let this be a moment to celebrate achievement, reflect on the work ahead, and inspire a future where equality is not aspirational but actual. Happy International Women’s Day!

FEMINITY nowadays

Looking carefully ahead in 2026, it has been noticed that
femininity continues to evolve into a multidimensional concept that transcends traditional barriers, no longer being strictly defined by appearance or societal expectations; in our world, modern femininity encompasses resilience, creativity, empathy and above all, authenticity.
There is a living dialogue between cultural heritage, personal identity and global awareness, all weaving together threads of history with the immediacy of present-day challenges; without any hesitation, it can be easily emphasized that in large and cosmopolitan cities like Vancouver, cultural intersections amplify these expressions.
Urban narratives showcase femininity not as a singular style or voice, but rather as a spectrum of strengths and vulnerabilities. Social media platforms, for instance, have democratized the ways women articulate identity, allowing voices previously marginalized to assert influence over fashion, arts and political discourse.
In 2026, feminity is inherently intersectional: an acknowledgement of race, class, desirability and neurodiversity within each individual’s lived experience.
One insightful fragment emerging from artistic circles reads: “Femininity is the art of timing – the pause before speech, the glance that speaks volumes.”  These subtle performative gestures continue to evolve, not as limitations but as empowered signatures, blending intuition with conscious choice.
Likewise, corporate environments are seeing a reframing of femininity as leadership, while emphasizing collaborative intelligence, emotional literacy and ethical decision-making. This era defines success not merely through titles or visibility, but rather through transformative action that uplifts communities.
Also, cultural products (from cinema to literature) are widely reflecting these paradigm shifts. Films are centering narratives around complex feminine characters who defy stereotype, navigating careers, relationships and moral choices with varied nuances.
Literature, too, amplifies inner realities through lyrical storytelling that captures both fragility and ferocity in one breath.
Critically speaking, there is an ongoing questioning of what society deems “feminine”: the very idea is deconstructed and celebrated, simultaneously ancient and futuristic, intimate yet inclusive.
I truly believe that activism remains a cornerstone of contemporary femininity. Many feminist movements nowadays span environmental justice, digital rights and global labor equity, illustrating again that femininity is not passive, but a force that catalyzes constructive change.
In 2026, feminine power is increasingly associated with ethical influence, cross-cultural coalition-building, and acts of care on both micro and macro scales.
Ultimately, femininity in 2026 is celebrated as a living and adaptive force: vibrant and reflective, it is simultaneously personal and collective, static in essence yet dynamic in practice. This year challenges everyone (regardless of gender) to reconsider the traditional lexicon of femininity, to embrace its complexities, and to honor its capacity to inspire, stabilize and transform. 2026 invites us to recognize that femininity is not a costume to be worn but a continuously authored narrative, rich in paradox, resilience and revolutionary potential for the decade ahead.
“The essence of femininity lies in the art of balance between strength and softness.”

The power of love

In 2026, as the world navigates through unprecedented technological and social shifts, the enduring force of love remains a central compass in human experience.
Time and time again, it has been observed that love is no longer confined only to the intimate setting, but it rather manifests in communities, across cultures and (believe it or not) even in virtual realms. Love could shape decisions, drive creativity and catalyze empathy – qualities more vital than ever in an age defined by rapid change.
Consider the quiet moments: a parent holding a child in a city smothered by neon lights, or friends bridging generations through shared digital stories…these fragments of affection, often fleeting, assert the timelessness of connection.
Love is not merely a sentiment, but an active, transformative practice, like an energy that compels action and fuels resilience.

Lately, more and more people began speaking about “collective love,” which is a phenomenon where empathy scales beyond personal relationships. Communities witnessing environmental crises or political unrest often find hope in solidarity. Love here is a catalyst for collaboration, a force that stitches together disparate lives (reminding us that care can be revolutionary), and it emerges in subtle gestures, such as: volunteering time, mentoring, or lending an ear…these seemingly minor actions ripple outward, proving that love’s influence extends beyond the immediate.

Technology too reframes love. Virtual realities, AI companions and decentralized networks offer new avenues for expression. Yet even in the current digital era, authentic human warmth remains irreplaceable.
The fragments of messages, emotive videos and shared digital art pieces remind us of the profound capacity of love to transcend physical boundaries. Without any hesitation, based on empirical observations, we can imply that in 2026, love is simultaneously intimate and global, personal and systemic.
History offers us a very interesting context …past generations relied on letters, long walks and spoken confidences; today, love interacts with the speed of data, but requires the same courage, vulnerability and attentiveness.
In this accelerated environment, mindfulness of emotion has gained significance. Pausing, listening deeply and witnessing another’s journey are acts of love as potent as any grand declaration, and the wisdom of these small deeds, though easily overlooked, accumulates quietly to form societies rooted in empathy.

Yet, love is not without its paradoxes. It can challenge pride and provoke discomfort; it can illuminate inequities and confront inertia. These fragments (moments of tension, misunderstanding or longing) are themselves integral, illustrating that love’s power lies as much in its trials as in its triumphs; understanding often arrives during these moments, teaching us patience, forgiveness and creative compassion.
Even as 2026 ushers in novel challenges (environmental, social and technological), the thread of love remains an unbroken connector; it is the force that animates art, sustains friendships, inspires activism and transmits cultural legacies.
Love, in its many forms, reminds humanity that while the world evolves at dizzying speed, our capacity to care, connect and transform endures.

Fragments of a hundred stories converge into a central truth: love is not just experienced, it is enacted. Whether in whispered encouragement, shared struggles, or global movements, love sustains the human spirit. And so, as the current year continues to unfold, we are called to honor both its subtle undercurrents and its grand gestures, letting the power of love continuously shape lives across every boundary it touches.
“The true power of love is found not in grand gestures, but in the quiet commitment to seek the best for another without expectation;
in that selflessness, love becomes a transformative force.”

February 24, 2026: “DRAGOBETE” Day

“DRAGOBETE” – An old Romanian custom featuring Love (or the Romanian version of Valentine’s Day)
On this Dragobete Day, let us reflect on love as a force both ancient and enduring, inseparable from the rhythms of nature and the renewal of life.
In the symbolic awakening of the spring, when birds find their mates and the first flowers break through the frost, we are reminded that love requires attentiveness, courage and the willingness to blossom alongside those who share our journey.
So, dear Romanian friends, this is the perfect time of the year to embrace connection with sincerity and presence, and to honor the traditions that have guided our ancestors’ hearts for centuries. Please allow this day to inspire renewed commitment to the pursuit of joy, understanding and companionship, because, in essence, Dragobete teaches us that love is not merely a sentiment but a deliberate cultivation of warmth, trust and mutual flourishing.
● A brief historical background
“DRAGOBETE” is a day rich in traditions, which differ from region to region. In general, nowadays, many Romanians exchange gifts with their partners as a way of showing their affection for each other.
On the other hand, according to one of the many legends on the matter, this day is also known as the day of "The Engagement", "The birds accompanying" or "The birds wedding." According to a popular belief, birds gather in flocks, "courting", in an indescribable turmoil &, until the end, they’ll find their pair. Together they build the nest in which to grow their offspring. According to the same old legend, the birds that do not find their pair now, they remain single until next year.
Another legend says that “Dragobete” was the son of “Baba Dochia”, who is connected with the return of spring. The traditional story tells us the in the ancient times, young men and women together would go to search the meadows for fresh spring flowers. Nonetheless, a beautiful, old, tradition worth sharing further!

February 14, 2026: HAPPY VALENTINE’s Day!

Dear friends, today (on Valentine’s Day) the entire world honors love, and by this note I would like to remind you that love is not merely an emotion, but rather a conscious engagement with another mind and heart. We all know that a true connection flourishes in understanding, respect and mutual growth; these are the bonds that elevate our character, sustain us through challenges and illuminate the significance of ordinary moments.
Today is the day when we openly honor a partner, a friend, or a mentor whose presence inspires curiosity, resilience and authenticity. I encourage you all to kindly express your recognition with sincerity, by taking a moment to acknowledge the subtle ways they enrich your everyday experience, to affirm your gratitude and to recommit explicitly to a shared purpose and support. Let today remind us that profound companionship transforms ordinary moments into lasting meaning, and in the shared journey of growth and resilience, love becomes both a refuge and an inspiration. Happy Valentine’s Day, dear ones!
“Love is the greatest refreshment in life.” (Pablo Picasso)

January 24’26: Union of the Romanian Principalities

An old page of Romanian history: The Little Union of the Romanian Principalities
January 24, 1859 – January 24, 2026. 167 years ago, the Union of the Romanian Principalities (also known as: “The Little Union of the Romanian Principalities”, or “The Little Union”, or “The Day of The Unification of the Romanian Principalities”) took place, under the leadership of Alexandru Ioan Cuza.
On January 24, 1859, the Little Union marked a profound turning point in Romanian history …a testament to the enduring power of foresight, courage and collective commitment for the national good. The election of Alexandru Ioan Cuza as the ruler of both Moldavia and Wallachia was not just an administrative act, but it was a deliberate realization of a shared vision, an embodiment of unity achieved through compromise, patriotism and unwavering devotion to the future of Romanians.
This union reminds us that meaningful progress arises when individuals and institutions prioritize common purpose over narrow interests, when dialogue and principles guide action and when vision is paired with the humility to serve the greater collective. The Little Union was a demonstration that even in the complex tapestry of political and social challenges, decisive moments of courage can redefine a nation’s destiny.
For contemporary Romania, the lesson is both timeless and urgent: unity, dedication, and informed foresight are the foundation upon which enduring institutions and equitable opportunities are built.
As we honor this historic achievement, we are called to continue cultivating these values, while ensuring that
every region, every citizen, and every generation has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a strong, cohesive and forward-looking nation.

January 24’26: To all our Romanian friends, near & far: HAPPY UNIFICATION DAY, dear ones!
● A concise historic briefing:
January 24th, also known as the Little Unification (Romanian: "Mica Unire") celebrates the political union of these 2 principalities, which is considered the foundation of modern Romania. The United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia, also known as "The Romanian United Principalities", was the official name of the Romania following the 1859 election of Alexandru Ioan Cuza as the ruling prince (Romania: "domnitor") of both territories.
Years later, on December 1st, 1918, the Great Union happened (Romanian: "Marea Unire"), when the 3 Romanian Principalities (Wallachia, Moldavia & Transylvania) became one country, one voice, called "Romania", and December 1st became Romania's National Day.
